Lesley Sue Potts, born on July 7, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on February 28, 2025, in Franklin, Tennessee, while comforted by her loving family. She was the daughter of L.M. "Bubba" and Lucille Bartlett Potts and was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Stephanie Potts.
Lesley enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Librarian, dedicating many years to nurturing a love of reading and learning in others. She worked at various libraries throughout her career, but her heart found its home during the last 18 years of her career, where she served as the Children's Librarian at the Williamson County Public Library in Franklin. Her passion for literature and her ability to inspire young minds will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of working with her and those she served.
A proud graduate of Clarksville High School Class of 1971, Lesley went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Austin Peay State University, followed by her Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). Her academic accomplishments reflected her commitment to education and her belief in the power of knowledge. In addition to her professional achievements, Lesley was an accomplished artist, embracing her creative side during her retirement. She took joy in painting, sketching, and exploring various artistic outlets, activities that filled her heart with joy.
Lesley cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her sister, Kimberley Potts; her niece, Jessica Dickison (John III); her nephew, Jackson Wickham (Rachel); her great-nephews, John B. Dickison IV, Porter Dickison, Harvey Dickison, and Sullivan Wickham. She always found joy in the presence of children and valued the time spent with her loved ones.
Lesley's spiritual life was also significant to her. Though health limited her attendance in recent years, she treasured worship and fellowship at the West Main Church of Christ in Franklin, where she felt a strong sense of community.
A visitation will be held on March 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, TN, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Southside Cemetery.
Lesley Sue Potts will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her career, her passion for knowledge and personal growth, and her deep love for family and friends.
