Lawrence Edward Riggins, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
He was born on June 21, 1928 in the Dotsonville community to the late George Dewey and Lillie Hogue Riggins. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers William and Henry, and his sister Thelma Watkins. Other survivors include his siblings Davis Riggins, Dorothy Manners, Lillie Sherfield, and Lucille Duke, sons David (Charlie) and Jim (Barbara), grandsons Mark (Cathy), Jason, and Clayton, and four great grandchildren.
Lawrence served as a Deacon for many years at the Dotsonville Baptist Church and was currently a member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army, served 16 years on the Montgomery County Commission, and also served on numerous county committees. He was a farmer and employed by Boilen-Harrison and Quality Products.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and Saturday, March 31 from 10:00 until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Services will be officiated by Pat Van Dyke, Mark Riggins, and Lane Riggins with burial following at Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Riggins, Lane Riggins, Mayson Riggins, Clayton Riggins, Ronnie Manners, Paul Duke, and Jason Riggins. Memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International.
