Larry Odom

Larry Wayne “Topper” Odom, age 68 of Erin, TN, passed away October 6, 2023 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Chambers and Bro. Ray Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Alsobrooks Cemetery.

The Odom family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Monday afternoon at the funeral home.

Larry entered this life on May 29, 1955 in Erin, TN, son to the late Roy Odom Jr, and Annette Cathey. Upon graduating from W.T. Thomas High School, Larry became a logger before becoming employed with TVA. Following his time at TVA, Larry continued to operate Odom’s Logging while also serving as owner and operator of Odom’s Blue and Gray boat dealership. Larry spent his time on the water as he was a passionate bass fisherman. He belonged to the Twin Lakes Bass Club and loved his hunting trips to the Colorado Rockies. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy (Loretta) Odom Jr, Annette Cathey (Jerry) Gray; his grandparents which raised him, Roy and Christine Odom; and brother, Jimmy Gray.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Verna Rye Odom; children, Jereme (Casey) Odom; Jessica (Wesley) Robeson; siblings, Melinda (Dale) Townsend, Teresa Odom, and Mark (Michelle) Odom. Larry also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, McKenzie (Drayton) Belew, Weston Robeson, Ryelee Odom, Wyatt Robeson, and Savannah Odom.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marshall Russell, Shane Moore, Josh Bateman, Vince Brooks, Brian Welker, Cliff Brewer, Kevin Jones, Bobby Pattell, and Sydney Warden. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Twin Lakes Bass Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Odom Memorial Scholorship Fund, Traditions First Bank, 5745 East Main St, Erin, TN, 37061.
