MGySgt USMC (R) Larry “Gumpy” Helser, 71 of Clarksville passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018.
He was born on April 27, 1946 in Maybee, MI., the son of the late Marshall Helser and Wanda Schnurstein Helser.
Larry was retired from the U.S. Marines having served 22 ½ years; he was the recipient of 3 Purple Hearts, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Metal for which he worked very hard. After his retirement he continued to serve his Country by assisting active duty Soldiers and Veterans. Larry had served as the Commander of many VFWs, the 2nd State Captain of the MI. Patriot Guard and was one of the founders of 501 C3 Patriot Guard of MI.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Helser; sons, Marshall Helser, Christian Helser; step-daughters, Katy Kohlenberg, Angie Quick; and 2 grandchildren.
