Kathy was born February 24th, 1961 in Denton, Texas to the late Robert A. and Lois E. (Johns) Temple.
She is survived by her two brothers, Alan (Carol) Temple of Kearneysville, WV and Daryl (Ruthie) Temple of Wickliffe, KY, niece and nephew Holly and Joe Feno and great niece Caroline Feno of Arlington, VA, and nephew Nate Temple of Harrisburg, PA.
Kathy loved and was loved and respected by the numerous students and colleagues she impacted over nearly three decades as a deaf education teacher at Fort Campbell. Kathy was an expert in the field of deaf education and had the heart of a teacher. She was a strong advocate for her students and a ready source of help to student families and to other teachers. Kathy was caring, compassionate, and kind. She was an inspiration to all, professionally and spiritually as well. Kathy valued each person and made everyone better. She never let down her students, their families, or colleagues.
Kathy’s life was rooted in a foundation of faith that she put into practice. She devoted many years helping those recovering from sickness or injury through the training, certification, and visitation of therapy dogs, including several of her own. Kathy sought out those who needed uplifting from life’s trials, and gave them comfort. She was a faithful congregant and volunteer at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church . Kathy “was there” for her parents. She and her Mom were close companions and Kathy helped her reach the ripe age of 90 years, and enjoy the ride along the way.
Those that knew Kathy would tell you that dogs were her true love. With great dedication, Kathy was a long-time member of Clarksville Kennel Club and Tender Paws Animal Therapy group. She was a dedicated teacher for dog obedience classes, evaluator for canine good citizen tests and evaluator for pet therapy teams. She loved doing pet therapy with her canine partners Dixie, Lovey, Jingle, Kixx and Sienna. She spent 1000s of hours visiting hospitals, reading to children at libraries, going to nursing homes and schools. Kathy had such generosity of spirit, kind and compassionate nature and loved sharing her dog teams with those in need. She enjoyed competing in AKC dog events such as agility, obedience and rally and took such joy in cheering on her friends and other dog teams in addition to her own dogs. Kathy was an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated volunteer and club member.
Kathy will always be missed but never forgotten in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Kathy’s name be made to either Tender Paws Animal Therapy ( https://www.tenderpawsanimaltherapy.org/ ) or Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center ( https://search.vanderbilthealth.com/locations/vanderbilt-ingram-cancer-center ). Kathy was a founding member of Tender Paws .
