Kathy Diane Petersen

Kathy Diane Petersen, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on February 28th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on May 21st, 1951, in Dickson County, TN to the late Hershel and Lucille Choate Groves, Kathy's life was dedicated to caring for her family and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Kathy's passion for gardening, tending to her flowers, listening to music, playing cards, and indulging in shopping reflected her vibrant spirit. However, her greatest source of happiness was her family. She found true joy in spending precious moments with her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson Justin Page and siblings, Manson Groves, Charles Groves, Joe Groves, Reuben Groves, and Roger Groves. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Harlan Petersen. Kathy is also remembered by her three children: Melissa (Donnie) Page, Larry (Shearon) Sloan, and Tonya (Jason) Yarbrough. Her grandchildren, Jonathan Page, Chelsie Stinhorst, Mitchell Sloan, John Sloan, and Elijah Yarbrough carry forth her spirit along with her great-grandchildren, Jesse Sloan and Caleigh Sloan; siblings Annis Black, Marsha Cerda, Shelia Lallo, and Terry Groves.

Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow at Slayden Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
