Juanita Wolfe

August 30, 1926 — August 29, 2015

Juanita Clausel Wolfe, devoted mother and grandmother passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 following a courageous fight with cancer. She was age 88. Mrs. Wolfe was surrounded by loving family and friends at the time of her passing at the Oak Brook Retirement Living. A resident of Erin, Tennessee since 1963, she was a member of the Erin Church of Christ and a graduate of Hardin County High School in Savannah Tennessee.
Juanita was a homemaker prior to starting a career with Peoples Telephone Company in the 1970’s, where she later retired. Juanita loved raising and caring for her children and grandchildren, but quilting was her passion for more than 40 years, learning the craft from her older sister Magdalene. In recent years Juanita, one of the founding members of the local quilt club, met weekly to quilt with friends at the J. D. Lewis Senior Citizens Center. Her quilts, constructed with loving attention to detail, have always been shared as gifts to family and close friends. These treasured gifts will be a constant memory of her talent and unselfishness.
Another lifelong gift to her family was demonstrated most often through family meals. Being born into a large family herself, meal preparation was a time-consuming but shared chore. She started preparing Sunday lunch each Saturday. That preparation continued early Sunday morning as she anticipated the gathering of children and grandchildren who arrived after church, a ritual that endured until only recently. These meals were also a time for children and grandchildren to hear stories of her growing up on the farm during the depression.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Dee, parents Danny and Lounettie Clausel, sisters Magdalene Hardin, Estelle Gillespie, Mildred Dickson, brother James L. Clausel, two infant brothers and one infant sister. She is survived by sisters Nettie Sue Hughes and Belly Lou Blount, daughters Wanda Parchman (Freddie) and Lanette Thomason; sons Larry Wolfe, David Wolfe (Beverly) and Ron Wolfe (Annie); 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
