Juanita Simpson

Juanita Alsobrooks Simpson, passed away July 15, 2012, in Erin, Tennessee. She was born in Houston County on December 8, 1923, daughter of Roy Lee and Edna Lela Alsobrooks. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lucille Mobley. After high school, Juanita moved to Michigan with her parents where she was one of the original Rosie the Riveter women during WW II. Upon her return to Tennessee, Juanita attended Draughn’s Business College in Nashville. Later she took a position at Hilcrest Clinic where she retired after 25 years. Juanita was a member of Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as secretary for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Edna “Eddie”Simpson Kocurek (Jimmy) and Alice Jones, son, Harry Simpson (Cindy), brothers James Earl Alsobrooks and Neal Alsobrooks (Janice). “Tootsy” as she was affectionately nicknamed, was “Mamaw” to eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of which will cherish the many memories left behind. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at Nave Funeral Home, Erin, TN from 4-7 p.m. The service will be officiated by Neal Alsobrooks on Wednesday, July 18 at Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Erin, TN at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Building Fund.
