Joy Dickens Huggins, age 71, of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, surrounded by her family.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Joy was born February 27, 1947 in Franklin, KY daughter of the late Doug and Elizabeth Dickens. Joy was a beloved Teacher and Guidance Counselor for 45 years, primarily at Clarksville High School and Rossview High School. She completed graduate and undergraduate studies at Austin Peay. After retiring from the Montgomery County School System, Joy began her political career as a member of the Montgomery County Republican Women's Club (President, 2016), and was elected in 2018 as a Tennessee GOP State Executive Committeewoman. She loved to travel, read and most of all cook and entertain for her friends and family. She cherished her role as wife, mother, and particularly being "Mimi" to four beautiful granddaughters. Joy was preceded in death by her sister, Eva Nelle Groves.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband James “Jim” Huggins; son, Jason Overby (Robin); daughter, Jennifer Mead (Clint) step son, Michael Huggins (Ben); grandchildren, Jordyn Mead, Emma Overby, Sarah Overby and Lauren Mead.
