SGM (Ret) Joseph A. Garcia, 75, Clarksville, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Chaplain(LTC) Jimmy A. Smith. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemtery West with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born January 7, 1933 in Karnes City, Texas, son of John R. Garcia and Maria Baldez Aleman. He retired from the U.S. Army after over 29 years of service. He fought in the Korean War and made two tours of duty to Vietnam during his military career. Afterwards, he worked for 10 years as Deputy Director for the Community Action Agency. His affiliations included WK&T Chapter, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), American Legion Post 233, VFW, Shriners, Free Masons, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Among his other awards are the CIB, Master Parachutist, and two Bronze Stars. He is survived by his wife Kathleen M. Garcia of Clarksville, children Alan Craig(Jan) Garcia, Indianapolis, Steven Wayne Garcia, Clarksville, David Kenneth (Kathy) Garcia, Memphis, and Michael Kevin (Kathy) Garcia, Sr., Nashville, brothers Daniel Garcia, Fresno, CA, Jerry Miles Garcia, Reedley, CA, Samuel Jimmy Garcia, Conroe, TX, sisters Eloiza Luisa Vasquez, Bay City, MI, Alice Elida Garcia, Holland, MI, and grandchildren Samantha Kathleen Garcia, Michael Kevin Garcia, Jr., Avery Scott Davis, and Jackson David Davis.
