Jonell Hensley Amos (1935-2023) – Jonell “Jo” Hensley Amos (88) passed away peacefully the morning of April 3, 2023 at her residence in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on April 1, 1935 to the late Carl and Dorothy Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husbands: Ben Allen Roberts and Dr. William E. Beaumont, Jr.; son-in-law, James Vinson; and grandson, Jack Amos. Mrs. Amos is survived by her husband, James D. Amos; her children, Rick (Jenny) Roberts of Barlow, Kentucky and Cindy (Jerry) Vinson-Gannaway of Clarksville, Tennessee; step-sons Jimmy (Teresa) Amos, and Timmy (Jamie) Amos, all of Clarksville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Amos graduated from South Christian High School and attended Bethel College in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville, Tennessee. She had a love of gardening and was a former member of the Les Candides Garden Club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an excellent southern cook, a passionate golfer, and was one of the University of Kentucky’s greatest basketball fans!
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to noon on Tuesday, April 11 at First Baptist Church of Clarksville. Funeral services will start at noon with graveside interment immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Pastor Dr. Ronny Raines and Pastor Cal Hampton. Pallbearers include Ben Roberts, Beau Roberts, Blake Roberts, Bradley Roberts, Jared Marsh, Ryan Amos, and Jimmy Winters. Donations in her memory can be made to the Mission Program of First Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee. McReynolds-Nave-Larson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
