John Whitworth

John Edgar Whitworth, 91, Clarksville, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Alterra Sterling House. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Tim Parish officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born March 3, 1919 in Robertson County and was preceded in death by his parents, Williams Harvey and Ora Toler Whitworth; brothers, Howard Whitworth, Homer Whitworth, Cecil Whitworth, James Edward Whitworth, William Harvey Whitworth Jr; sisters, Kathlene Whitworth, Mary Ledbetter; and son-in-law, Al Larravide. Mr. Whitworth was a retired Civil Servant, WWII U.S. Army Veteran, former owner of Whit's Jewelry Store, and a Mechanic. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Young Whitworth, Clarksville; son, John W. (Kelly) Whitworth, Clarksville; daughters, Beverly K. (James) Swafford, Rossville, GA, Judy Larravide, Antioch, TN; brothers, Jimmy Whitworth, Chapmansboro, TN, Johnny Whitworth, Madison, TN; sisters, Darlene Austin, Indian Mound, Mary Mathis, Dover; grandchildren, Brian, Brandy, Amanda, Christy, Stephanie, D.J., Willie; great-grandchildren, Orion, Caine, Courtney, Makayla, Lesley, Emily and Bryson. Pallbearers will be William "Bubba" Green, D.J. Pierce, Douglas Freeman, Dwight Thaxton, Curtis Lilly and Bradley Phillips.
