John S. Sylawa, 84, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home in Clarksville, TN. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Chapel with Father Theo Ebulueme officiating. Burial will be in Paran Methodist Church Cemetery near Algood, TN and will be preceded by a graveside service at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be 5:30 - 7 p.m., Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until 9:45, Wednesday, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Mr. Sylawa was born August 22, 1926 in Conshohocken, PA and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Prusunowski Sylawa; daughter, Lisa Lee; sisters, Bella Haines, Josephine Burat; brother, Watson Sylawa; father- and mother-in-law, Claude and Belle Williams. Mr. Sylawa was retired from the U.S. Army and former member of both the 11th and 101st Airborne Divisions. He was also retired from Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Ft. Campbell, KY; and also a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia Williams Sylawa; grandson, John Gage Lee; sister, Bernice Sylawa, Tampa, FL; brother, Frank Sylawa, Austin, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
