John (Rip) Schmidt

John “Rip” Schmidt, age 81 of Tennessee Ridge, TN, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Elk Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Robert McCabe officiating. Burial will follow at Lowery Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church.
Rip entered this life on December 6, 1932 son of the late Joseph Schmidt and Geneva Anderson Schmidt. He was a faithful member of Elk Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Schmidt; brother, William “Runt” Schmidt; and sister, Rita Hankins.
Survivors include three daughters, Margie Anderson (Steven), Stephanie Davis (Kevin), Joni Lindsey; three brothers, Bill Schmidt, Kenneth Schmidt, Anthony Schmidt; two sisters, Eva Collister, Barbara Bucciarelli; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Tracy Downs, Troy Anderson, David Schmidt, Danny Schmidt, Keven Schmidt, and Eldon Schmidt. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Lindsey, Sandra Underwood, Vicky Clark, Brenda Hooper, Gina Bell, and Nancy Ambrose.
Following the services, friends and family will meet for a meal and fellowship at the Schmidt Family Park.
