John Phillips, 80, of Erin. passed away February 8, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Madison, Tennessee. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Nave Funeral Home, Erin. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday. John was born November 28, 1931 in Shellmont, Tennessee, son of the late Lee Phillips and Ethel Hicks Phillips. John served his country proudly for 20 years in the United States Army, fighting in both the Korean War and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Army in 1971 with the rank of First Sergeant, John joined the Boilermakers Union in 1973. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances “Polly” Phillips, whom he affectionately referred to as “Doll”, his son Mike Phillips of Nebraska, his daughter Sandra Mobley of Kentucky, brother David Phillips and Christine Calfee, both of Tennessee, and four grandchildren, Annie, Emma, Zackary and Nicholas.
