John George Keller, 83, of Woodlawn, passed away at his home on Friday, August 17, 2012.
A funeral Mass with full military honors will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Robin Courtney Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
John was born November 17, 1928 in Kingston, NY, and was the son of the late Marcus and Elizabeth Doyle Keller. He attended and graduated Kingston, NY Public Schools.
A United States Army Veteran of twenty-eight years, John served in Korea, Europe, Pacific and Vietnam, and he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, World War II Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the National defense Service Medal. He retired as a Sergeant First Class.
Upon retiring from the Army, he went to work at Pellon Corporation, where he was the Manager of Operations, until retiring in 1990. He married Jean Evelyn Wright on April 18, 1970, and from that marriage came a life full of children and beautiful memories.
He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Joy and Brad Horn, Woodlawn, TN, Jenny and Gordon Shaw, Cache, OK, Janice and Brian Nash, Derry, NH; two sons, Eddie and Barbara Keller, Columbus, GA, James Remington, New Orleans, LA; eleven grandchildren, Holly Maples, Jennifer Carney, James Carney, Meredith Clement, Carl Clement, Neil Clement, Kaitlin Nash, Keenan Nash, Hannah Keller, Jessica Keller, Michaela Remington; and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe and Rose Keller, Kingston, NY, Richard and Bernice Keller, Bloomington, NY; two sisters, Ida and Richard Haines, Safety Harbor, FL, and Mary and Walter Moore, Livingston, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Jean Keller; four brothers, Martin J. Keller, George Keller, Gerard Keller, and Robert Keller.
