John Hodges Jr., 83, Cumberland Furnace, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Trinity Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Marion United Methodist Church located at 5855 Marion Church Rd., Cunningham, TN., with Rev. Melvin Brooks and Rev. Ben Falls officiating. Burial will be in Marion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born December 27, 1924 in Montgomery County and was the son of the late John Hodges Sr. and Mary Ferrell Hodges. Mr. Hodges was a farmer and former employee of REA Express and a member of Marion United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, John (D.J.) Hodges III, Knoxville, Robert S. (Phyllis) Hodges, Cumberland Furnace; brother, Owen (Margaret) Hodges, Nashville; grandchildren, John (Susan) Hodges IV, Knoxville, Brian J. Hodges, Knoxville, Phillip R. Hodges, Dickson, and Elizabeth (Lane) Dennis, Savannah, Greg Wilson, Knoxville, great-grandson, John Hodges V, Knoxville. Pallbearers will be Donald Hodges, Eddie Hodges, Phillip Chambers, Brandon Chambers, Harry Daniel and Mike Bailey.
