Miss Joann Matteson, 87,of Clarksville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born June 21, 1936, in Belfield, North Dakota, the daughter of Alfred E. Matteson and Marguerite M. Matteson, who predeceased her. Joann was also predeceased by one sister, Lorraine R. Canright, and two brothers, Boyd Matteson and Esker Matteson. She served in the United States Army for more than twenty years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. She completed her illustrious career as a Civilian Nurse Practitioner at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. Joann was the kindest, caring, and most loving person, and was revered by her patients, coworkers and friends. Many times her patients referred to her as “Doctor” Matteson. Joann was happy to take on any task presented to her. She retired to the lake life in Dover, Tennessee and loved every moment of her retirement.
Joann had many friends and loving neighbors. Special to her was LeRoy and Linda, Rick and Holly, her last caregivers, Cindy and Becky, Charletta, the other Joann, and her best friend, Betsy.
Visitation at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Sango Road, will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30. Brother David Mackens will officiate the Memorial Service at 11:00, with burial and Military Honors at Sango Cemetary immediately following the service.
Joann’s wishes were that instead of flowers, contributions be made to her special neighbor, the Stewart County Fire Department, Station 9, 405 Leatherwood Road, Dover, TN 37058.
