Pastor Jimmy Terry Sr. born July 22, 1937 was called home by his heavenly father, June 21, 2017.
He was raised by his beloved “Aunt Lucy” in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Pastor Terry served in the United States Navy. He is the founder of both the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and Tabernacle Christian School in Clarksville, TN.
Pastor Jimmy Terry is renowned for uniting all facets of the community. He also became deeply involved in civic projects. A final piece of Pastor Terry’s legacy is how he richly influenced people in the Clarksville community with his passion for Christ that became evident through his JESUS sign campaign during Easter and Christmas that spread statewide and received national attention. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Servella, his children Loretta Zachary of Dayton, Ohio, Shana Madry of Columbus, Ohio, Vaughn Terry of Zion, Illinois and Jimmy Terry of Clarksville, TN, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-­grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, TN with burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 12-7 p.m. Monday and from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, TN. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brent Parchman, Carlton Terry, Charlie Koon, Rick Reda, Gene Roach, Bill Langford, Andrew Sapp and Jerry Austin.
Gideon’s will be honorary pallbearers.
