Jerry L. Anderson

January 27, 1943 — November 19, 2024

Clarksville

Jerry L. Anderson, a dedicated veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away on November 19, 2024 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Born on January 27, 1943, in Houston County, Tennessee, Jerry’s life was a testament to both service to country and faithfulness to family.

Retiring after a commendable 27-year career with the Air Force, Jerry played a significant role in pivotal moments of history. Early in his service, he was involved with the fleet of nuclear warhead-equipped bombers, a crucial component in deterring threats during the tense atmosphere of the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a C130 Loadmaster, Jerry honed his skills before transitioning to the position of Flight Engineer aboard the Air Force's AWACS early warning systems and battlespace command and control aircraft. His dedication and expertise in aviation were evident throughout his military tenure.

Following his retirement from active duty, Jerry continued to serve his community by working at Fort Campbell, where he was involved in servicing and maintaining a great deal of the installation's Humvees. His passion for working with his hands allowed him to thrive as a skilled ASE certified mechanic, a profession he relished as much as his time in the service. He took pride in maintaining his own vehicles, which served as a reflection of his character and love for craftsmanship.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Anita Leithe Anderson; his son, Erik Johan Anderson; and his daughter, Sherry Lynn Norwood. He will also be remembered by his siblings: Billy Surrett, Sheila Surrett, Pam Rodriguez, and David Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Anderson; his mother, Frances Surrett; and his sister, Brenda Toomalatai. Jerry’s legacy as a devoted family man and accomplished serviceman, will endure in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. No public services are currently planned, but memories may be shared with his family on his tribute page at NaveFuneralHomes.com
