Jennie Lois Ford Wheeler, 90, Port Royal, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at her home.
Lois was born May 17, 1918, in Port Royal, Tenn., daughter of Keenie Lee Cornelius "Neeley" Ford and Florence Anna Barber, she was the sixth of nine children. Lois loved God, family, and country. During WWII, while her husband served in Europe, she worked in Oak Ridge on the Manhatten Project, helping to defend the country she loved. Family and others who knew her, remember her good home cooking and that she was always willing to serve others. After her husband Ray retired from the U.S. Postal Service, together, they served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Earl Wheeler, and is survived by one sister, Chester Ann O'neal. She is also survived by her children: Raymond E."Butch" Wheeler, Jr. (Cindy), Edward S. Wheeler (Amy), Richard F. Wheeler (April), Eva Wheeler Farley (Rusty), Elaine Wheeler Wright (Steve), all of Clarksville, and Donna Wheeler Minton (Bruce) of California. She loved her 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:30 on Monday evening at McReynolds, Nave & Larson Funeral Home. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3242 Highway 41A South. The funeral service will be held after the viewing at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Buford Stone, Donnie Wheeler, Jonathan Wheeler, Curtis Wright, Travis Wright, and Cameron Wheeler. Burial will be in the cemetery at Port Royal United Methodist in Port Royal.
