Jean R. Galland-Master Sergeant (U.S.Army Ret.)
Jean R. Galland of Erin, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Signature Health Care.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1pm Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Nave Funeral Home Chapel in Erin, Tn. with Father Michael Baltrus and Brother Richard Neal officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at French Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm Monday and 8am until service Tuesday at the funeral home. Jean was born December 28, 1929 in Crestline, Ohio, and preceded in death by his parents, Zeno and Pauline Neibus Galland. He retired from the United States Army in 1972 after serving 23 years. He is a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam and served with the 5th Regimental Combat Team in Korea. He received the Bronze Star in Vietnam. Jean also received the Army Commendation Medal. After retiring from the Army ,Jean was employed by Boise State University for 21 years and received Emeritus Status upon his retirement there .Jean was a member of several organizations including, The American Legion Post 73, National Rifle Association, Retired Enlisted Association, and a Lifetime Member of Good Sam’s Travel Club. Survivors include his wife, Nina Tanner Galland; one daughter, Darlene (Keith) Lacey of Belleville, Ohio; four sons, John, Dennis (Jane), Jacque (Patricia),all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Chris (Vicki),from Smyrna, Tennessee; two step daughters, Ilene (Bob) Cherry from Milton, Georgia and Dana Keele from McMinnville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren one step grandchild, and twenty great grandchildren.
