J C Britt, 80, Cunningham, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will be in Nesbitt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. He was born June 7, 1930 in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Britt and Frendonia Bryant Britt Mayfield; wife, Elsie Mae Oldham Britt; brother, Jessie Britt; and half brother, Clayton Mayfield. Mr. Britt retired from the timber business and had worked as the general manger of Whitson Lumber, a avid golfer, he belonged to Willow Ridge Golf,and Lone Oak Baptist Church and was loved by everyone. Survivors include his wife, Mary Grace Greene Bearden Britt, Cunningham; sons, Jerry (Faye) Britt, Cumberland Furnace, Glen (Sandy) Britt, Clarksville; daughter, Brenda (Clyde) Karnes, Cumberland Furnace; step-son, Henry (Connie) Bearden, Clarksville; step-daughter, Joy (Kenny) Edwards, Hopkinsville; half-brothers, Bobby (Betty) Mayfield, Billy Joe (Carolyn) Mayfield, Cunningham; half-sister, Peggy (Donald) Hodges, Cunningham; step-sister, Dorris Farmer, Clarksville; 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and numerous great-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Lone Oak Baptist Church and friends Don Hixon, Harris Tucker and Tom McWhorter.
