Janie Fay (Wicks) Jacobus, 69, of St. Petersburg, FL sadly passed away September 21st after a lengthy battle with Huntington’s disease. Janie was born in Sendai, Japan to Vernon and Hanako Wicks on March 17, 1955. In 1973, after graduating Northwest High School in Clarksville TN, Janie enlisted into the United States Air Force and went on to serve eight years as an accountant and later a journalist and public affairs specialist.
Janie was a devoted mother, enjoyed scuba diving, and went on to receive her master’s degree in applied anthropology at The University of South Florida. She instilled her strong moral values to her family and was active in the First Baptist Church in Largo, FL. She loved listening to her son play the piano and especially the violin where he played in the Pinellas Youth Symphony.
Janie is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Tom; their son, John; her mother, Hanako Wicks; sister, Renda Bryant and nieces Lisa (Bryan) Sayle and Tammi Daigle.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison St, Clarksville, TN 37040. Burial and US Air Force Honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Dr. Ronny Raines will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 12 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.
