Mr. James “Jamie” Fussell, age 86 of Erin, TN, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Houston County Community Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Pounds, Bro. David Mackens, and Bro. Blake Nolen officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Fussell family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Jamie entered this life on September 11, 1935 in Erin, TN, son to the late Buford (JB) and Ether Fussell. Jamie was a member of Erin Baptist Church, and was a lifelong resident of Houston County, TN where he retired from farming on August 27, 2022, the date of his death.
In addition to his parents, Jamie was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Fussell of 59 years; siblings, Preston Fussell, and Sue Pitts.
Survivors include his loving children, Jim Fussell (Kristy), Sherry Nolen (Joel), Beverly Malone (Bud); siblings, Sam Fussell (Judy), Polly Fussell Miller, Ruth Freeman, Nancy Taylor (Mike); 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren with little James Lee Nolen on the way.
He devoted his life to working the land and serving his community as a county commissioner for 40 years, in order to keep Houston County Community Hospital open. Welcoming new great grandchildren was his pride and joy…” you can never have too many”.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston County Livestock Association Beef Show, the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, or the Oak Hill Cemetery fund.
