James Townsend

B-Allah James Harvey Townsend, age 52, lovingly known as James, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held 12 noon Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

James entered into this life on March 18, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York. He enjoyed worshiping at Life Point Church. James was retired from The United States Army, in which he served 23 honorable years. During his time of service, he specialized in Information Technology. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, “Pop-Pop”, brother, and friend. When he wasn’t spending time with family, he enjoyed sports. Specifically golf, basketball and football. His team was the Jacksonville Jaguars.

James is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Harvey Townsend, and mother-in-law, Stephanie Lane.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 9 years, Delores Lane Townsend; mother, Sharon Manners; children, Courtney Wilder, Jasmin Ezell, Gabrielle Townsend, John Townsend, and James Townsend; grandchildren, Skyler and Analia Ezell; siblings, Yakema Townsend Brisman (Richard), and Varian Townsend; his cousin that he considered a brother, Bruce Miller; father-in-law, David Lane (Sharon); brothers and sisters in law, Nechille Turay, Iiyasah Lane, Karreen Lane, David Lane, and Derrick Lane. James also leaves behind a host of other family and friends.
