James Shamwell

James Shamwell, age 90, of Greenbrier, TN passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Mabry officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from  3 to 6 p.m. with a Masonic Service following at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

James entered this life on January 9, 1934, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Tom and Pauline Wallace Shamwell. He was a member of Hilldale Church of Christ, a US Army Veteran, member of the Queen City #761 Masonic Lodge, and was a member of Al Menah Shriners. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Shamwell; son, James Michael Shamwell, and brothers, Horce Wayne and Charles Ervin Shamwell.

Survivors include his son, Jim (Glynda) Shamwell; daughter, Karen Mabry; sister, Virginia Nell Winters; grandchildren, Lindsey Mabry, Ashley Mabry, Jessica (Robby) Kesler, Tiffany (Roy) Holmes, Kayla (Andrew) Haley; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton Head, Emily Holmes, Becca Haley, and Eli Holmes.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
