James Newman

James Thomas Gaston Newman, 89, Clarksville, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Montgomery Care and Rehab. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. EST, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens, TN. Mr. Newman was born February 26, 1922 in Athens, TN and was the son of the late, Jessie H. and Ida Moore Newman. He worked in the building supply business and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Clinton, TN. Survivors include his nieces, Rebecca C. Rochelle, Guthrie, KY, Patsy (Jack) Griffing, Charleston, SC, Jo Patton, Chattanooga, TN; nephews, Charles (Janet) Carmichael, Charlottesville, VA, Rudy Carver, Phoeniz, AZ, Doug Carver, Knoxville, TN; great-nephews, Michael (Lori) Rochelle, Ashland City, TN, Travis Rochelle, Knoxville, TN, Robert Rochelle, Guthrie, KY; and great-great-niece, Mia Rochelle.
