James Henry Manning Sr., 65, Clarksville, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Hilldale Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Robertson and Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the church. Mr. Manning was born February 9, 1944 in Carthage, TN, and was the son of the late Henry Taylor and Anna Lou Glover Manning. Mr. Manning worked for the State of Tennessee in Nashville for 12 years. He moved to Clarksville in 1979 when he purchased ownership in Jack Stevenson Furniture. After leaving the furniture business in 1985, he continued his career working in housing maintenance at Fort Campbell, KY. Before retirement, he worked at Hilldale Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member. He is survived by his spouse, Judy Jacobs Manning, and a son, James Henry Manning Jr. and his wife, Tish Holt Manning, of Pleasant View, TN. Grandchildren Jackson Ray and Jacob Holt Manning. Other survivors include a sister, Frances Turner of Knoxville, TN and niece, Traci Turner Gilliland of Knoxville, TN. Pallbearers will be Frank Bracey, George Craig, Howard French, Teddy Biggar, Willard Perry, George Ketch and Dannie Holt. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Haley' Life Group of Hilldale Baptist Church.
