James Kirchner

October 15, 1946 — February 24, 2025

Clarksville

James "Kiowa Jim" Kirchner, beloved father, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held from 3-6 p.m. on February 28, 2025, at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home.

Born on October 15, 1946, in Lohman, MO, James was the son of Theophilus and Rolanda Kirchner and was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jaime Lee Kirchner, and brothers, Tom and Ken Kirchner.

A retired Army veteran with 30 years of dedicated service, James had a passion for flying airplanes, drawing, and enjoying a well-made Vesper martini. He loved sharing laughter with family and friends and often quoted Robert Frost, reflecting his appreciation for life’s simple moments: “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep.”

James was also an avid athlete with a lifelong love for handball and racquetball. He played at all levels and taught racquetball at gyms around the world during his military service. As a great older brother, he stood in for his father on Senior Night at the football game for his brother Tom.

An accomplished semi-professional football player, he would have pursued a professional career if not for his time in the Army. His talents and enthusiasm for sports, especially handball and racquetball, were evident in everything he did, and he will be deeply missed.
