James "Jimmy" Felts

James Dewitt “Jimmy” Felts, age 70 of Erin, TN, passed away September 14, 2023 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Carson Cary Cemetery.

The Felts family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Jimmy entered this life on September 28, 1952 in Erin, TN, son to the late Z Dewitt and Katherine Elizabeth Felts. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Houston County and had a fruitful career of public service. Jimmy served as an inspector for Barge Waggoner for 25 years, inspector for Highers & Koonce for 15 years, and proudly served his community as Houston County Highway Superintendent from 2006-2014. He was a past member of the Erin Rotary Club, Past President of the Tennessee Bird Hunters Association, and a faithful member of Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  In 2017 Jimmy received the O.S. Luton Emerald Award for his many years of public service to Houston County. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Z C Felts and Kate Felts, Emmit Rogers and Annie Rogers; and his grandson, Robert Andrew Felts.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann Bryant Felts; son, Brian Dewitt (Robin) Felts; sisters, Elizabeth Dianne (Terry) Scholes, and Kathy Felts. Jimmy also leaves behind his precious granddaughter, Katelyn Felts, and his best friend, his jack russell terrier, Sam.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Sugg, J.W. Bryant, Jeremy Scholes, Drew Scholes, Chris Parchman, and Bronson Lyle. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Lyle, Jimmy Highers, Wade Winters, Von Selph, Terry Scholes, Berry Sugg, Eddie Rye, David Patterson, and Joey Baylor.
