James (Jim) Irwin

James A. Irwin age 85, of Tennessee Ridge, TN, passed away at his home Saturday, May 3, 2014. He was born November 30, 1928 in Houston County, Tn. son of William Irwin and Clevie Agy Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ten brothers and sisters; sisters; Irene Summers, Olive Jones, Mary Cooksey, Mary Tune, and Frances Askew, and brothers; Viston Irwin, Howard Irwin, George Irwin, D.H. Irwin, and Warner Irwin.
He proudly served four years in the US Navy on the USS Cavalier. He had no children of his own, his horses Traveler and Ranger were his passion. He taught school in Houston County, Dickson County, Chicago IL, and Alaska. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm Tuesday, May 6, and again from 9am until time of service at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 7. The service time will be at 2pm Wednesday, May 7, at the church. Burial will be held at Irwin Cemetary on Lewis Branch Rd., with Father Michael Baltrus officiating.Pallbearers will be Tony Arthon,Ken Simpson, Roland Neronha, Benino Casarez, Cyril Merkling, and Bennett Satterwhite.
