James William Hayes, age 69, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
A Celebration of Life with US Army Honors will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Revs. David Mackens and Martha Joye Sample officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
James was born on May 5, 1953, in Charleston, WV; the son of the late Holley and Velma Hawkins Hayes. He was a 16 year US Army Veteran, and following his military career went on to work in a long career as a truck driver. James never met a stranger, was a true people person that could talk to anyone. He enjoyed watching TV and spending time outdoors and fishing. He was also a classic car enthusiast and loved being with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Regina Craig Hayes; daughters, Jasmine (Felando) Whittier, and Regina Ferguson; sons, Jason (Kimberly) Hayes and Craig (Ashley) Hayes; grandchildren, Tristan Ferguson, Kyle Ferguson, Shawn Ferguson, Aaron Ferguson, Madison Pruitt, Oliver Hayes, Valena Le, Tucker Hayes, and Avalon Whittier; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cindy Chapman Hayes; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
