James Dixon Hamilton, 92, Clarksville, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Pastor John Hester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born December 2, 1916 in Union City, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dixon Hamilton Sr. and Alice Wright Hamilton; wife Lydia F. Hamilton; two daughters, Mary Alice Vaughn and Reta Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a faculty member (Agriculture Professor) at Austin Peay State University for more than 40 years. A founder and member of the Five Rivers Soil Conservation and Resource Management committee, member of the American Legion and Martha's Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Hamilton is survived by his four grandchildren, Mark Vaughn, Chris Vaughn, Lydia Hogan, Laura Hill Moran, and twelve great-grandchildren, Jerrod Vaughn, Jenna Crouse, Kevin Vaughn, Amy Vaughn, Kristina Vaughn, Ayden Vaughn, Jessica Hogan, Joshua Hogan, Jordan Hogan, Joey Hill, Derek Hill, Allison Wallace. Pallbearers will be Kevin Vaughn, Joey Hill, Derek Hill, David Hamilton, Mickey Hamilton and Russ Moran.
