James Downs

James Downs passed away April 1, 2012 in Nashville,Tn. James Lee was born October 21, 1932 in Indian Mound,Tn. to the late Otho and Elsie Jones Downs.A celabration of his life will be 2pm Thursday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert McCabe and Bro. Aubry Johnson officiating.Visitation will be from 2pm until 8pm Wednesday and from 8am until service Thursday at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack Henison and W.L.Downs and a sister,Patsy Ann Downs.He was a Deacon ot Elk Creek Baptist Church since the 60's and was retired from TVA-Cumberland.He was a life long cattle farmer,dedicated to God, his family and work.He is survived byhis wife,Laverne Brown Downs, a daughter, Terri Mathis(Terry), a son Tracy Downs (Joan), two grandsons, Matt and Aaron Mathis all of Cumberland City,Tn. He is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Thiel (Larry)of Spurger,Tx.Kay Winn (Stan) of Garden Prairie,Il. and Dean Gray (the late Mitchell) of Tn. Ridge, Tn.two brothers Morris Otho Downs Jr.of Cumberland City,Tnn. and Weldon Downs (Rita) of Erin,Tn.Pallbeares will be Matt Mathis, Aaron Mathis, Ray Downs, John Downs, Tommy Beechum, Billy Ray Welker, Johnny Dew, Barry Pulley.Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Lee Richardson, Danny Welker, Larry Powers, Richard Mosher.
