James Davis McCutchen, age 83, a longtime resident of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2023. Even though he was taken away from this world suddenly, his loving heart left him a beacon of light for all in this community.
Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Clarksville with Dr. Ronny Raines and Rev. Bill Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with US Marine Corps Honors.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church and again on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Davis entered this life on August 26, 1939, in Montgomery County, TN to the late EH “Boots” McCutchen and Elinor McCutchen. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Clarksville, where he enjoyed serving with the church missions. Davis made many overseas mission trips spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. He proudly served in The United States Marine Corps League (#603 James McCutchen Detachment). Davis was a long-time member of Clarksville Rotary-Noon, a 40-year member of Blue Wing Hunting Club in Reel Foot Lake, and was very active in Austin Peay State University’s Governor’s Club. He started his banking career at First National Bank, where he remained through the many transitions and name changes and eventually retired from US Bank.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his older brother, Pat McCutchen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Carol Catalano McCutchen; sisters, Elinor M. Andrews, of Clarksville, TN; Iva K. McCutchen, of Memphis, TN; brothers, Sam McCutchen (Donna), of Georgetown, TX, and Mark McCutchen (Harriett), of Clarksville, TN.
Pallbearers will be Jake McCutchen, Rod Streeter, Ryan Streeter, Grant Shaw, Landon Shaw, Chris Few, Mark Holleman, Steve Kemmer, and Earle Hudson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Joplin, and Clarksville Rotary-Noon.
