James “Shimmie” Coakley age 99, of Erin, TN, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Signature Healthcare of Erin.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Tay Joslin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors.
The Coakley family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday afternoon.
Shimmie entered this life on March 15, 1920 in Houston County, TN, son to the late Paul and Ella Coakley. Shimmie was a World War II veteran where he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, Shimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Clark Coakley.
Survivors include his loving children, James “Shorty” (Sue) Coakley, Barbara Coakley Herndon, and sister, Betty Ruth Johnson. Shimmie also leaves behind four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Hardin, Ashlee Dobbins, Will McDowell, Kale Harvey, Trent Hearndon, and Robbie McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Baggett, Randy Baggett, Tracy Hearndon, and Dickie Sykes.
