James Claxton

James Velton Claxton, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his home in McEwen.
Memorial services will be held 12 p.m. noon Saturday, February 1, 2020 with Navy Military Honors. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
James entered into this life on June 8, 1931 in Erin, Tennessee to the late John Thomas Claxton and Mable Flick Claxton.He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley Verline Claxton. As a young man, James served in the US Navy and went on to work for the TVA where he retired as a laborer.
Survivors include his children, Teddy Claxton (Vicky), Terry Claxton, Tammy Pierce (Donnie), and Tandy Arnold (Larry). Stepson Timothy W. Cash. Other survivors include his siblings, Walter Claxton and Jewel Westerman, eight grandchildren,Hannah Claxton, Katelyn Claxton, Tony Collins, Jamie Collins, Emily Henry, Maggie Collins, Joshua Collins, and Fourteen great grandchildren.
