James Austin Buck

James Austin Buck, age 89, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Tennessee State Veterans Home.

James entered this life on May 25, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT to the late David and Alice Foley Buck. He was then raised by Alice and her second husband, Hap Vondrasek. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, having proudly retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of valor and integrity. His military career was not just a profession but a calling. James loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Camellia Ann Buck, and sister, Lorraine Pettigrew.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Buck, and wife, Phyllis, and James Paul Buck, and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Heath Holcomb and Michele Kibler, six great-grandchildren, and nieces, Chrissy Glenz, Tink Day, and Mary Hill.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. James’ spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and unwavering love. May he rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Air Force Honors will be rendered. Local arrangements are in the care of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
