James Benne, Sr.

James C. Benne Sr., 72, Palmyra, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. John Black & Rev. Byron Dumas officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery West with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr.Benne was born November 2, 1935 in Indiana, the son of Lawrence and Pauline Benne. He was a retired SFC U. S. Army and attended Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include Shirley Thomas,Palmyra,son,James C.(Kathy) Benne Jr., Clarksville, daughters, Beverly (Darryl) Purvis, Nashville, Sherry (Paul) Travis and Angela Benne both of Clarksville, and Tammy (Greg) Grant, Illinois. Mother of his children, Geraldine Benne, brother, Johnny Benne, sisters, Rosemary Smith, Ann Hartman, and Jackie Carter. Fourteen Grandchildren and Seventeen Great-Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David, Sherry, Tammy, Jason, Angela and Shirley.
