James Kenneth Atkins, 65, Clarksville, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at his residence following a long illness. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Shaun Trescott officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. The remains are to be cremated. Jim was born March 25, 1945 in Indian Mound son of Edgar L. (Tack) and Margaret E. Parker Atkins. He was preceded in death by his father. He worked a a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver. Other than his mother of Coffeyville, KS, he is survived by his companion, Shirley Gidcumb, Clarksville; son, James "Jimbo" Kenneth Atkins II, grandsons, James Kenneth (Trey) Atkins III, Jarrod Atkins and Jordan Atkins, all of Grovetown, GA; brother, Delma L. Atkins, Clarksville; sisters, Shirley Marie Walker, Coffeyville, KS, Margaret Ann Gray, Jacksonville, FL; and three grandchildren.
