James Clinton `Tee` Akins, 75, Cumberland Furnace, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will be in McWhorter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 -8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home. He was born December 22, 1935 in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his parents, John Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Hayes Akins; brothers, J.D. Akins, Dean Akins, Herman Akins; great-grandchild, Addison Lemmons. Mr. Akins retired from State Industries in 1999 and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Hamilton Akins, Cumberland Furnace; sons, Johnny (Rhonda) Akins, Timmy (Lisa) Akins, both of Cumberland Furnace; daughter, Jeanie Smith, and her fiance, Lenny Gray, Dickson, TN; grandchildren, Pam (Damon) Wheeler, Charlotte, Misty (Jamie) Lemmons, Clarksville, Jacob Akins, Cumberland Furnace, Nathan Smith, Fort Eustis, VA, Cody Akins, Cumberland Furnace; great grandchildren, Liberty Wheeler, Charlotte, Abbigail Lemmons, Clarksville; brothers, Walter Lee (Pat) Akin, Cumberland Furnace, Norman (Mary) Akin, Cumberland Furnace, Thomas Akin, Cunningham, Edward (Kathy) Akin, Adams, Wade Akin, Charlotte; sisters, Lillian (Dennis) Burroughs, Cumberland Furnace, Lib (Ray) Stockdale, Cumberland Furnace; Patricia Dyce, Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Pallbearers will be Terry Akins, Jeff Akins, Aaron Akins, Jerry Akins, Douglas Akins, Greg Tucker, and Ted Gorzny. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hamilton, Grady Robinson, Jim Reynolds, and Frank Biter.
