Howard C. Smith, 79, Ashland City, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave-Larson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith was born January 16, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Charles and Priscilla Woodall Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Custodian with the Oakland, CA Public Schools System, a member of the VFW Post #4895, A Pilgram in the Moose Lodge Clarksville and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Bea Smith and a daughter, Linda Susan Cotton. He is survived by his son, Clifford Smith of Ashland City, TN; step-sons, Charles Ray Stark of Clarksville and Bobby Ray Stark of Cumberland City, TN; a brother, Pete Smith of Kentucky, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
