Herman E. Norfleet, Jr., 87 of Oakwood, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Gallatin Health Care Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with his cousin, Glenn Norfleet officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday.
Herman was born on February 7, 1929 in the Oakwood Community of Montgomery County, the son of the late Herman E. Norfleet, Sr. and Bernice Minniehan Norfleet. Herman, a veteran of the U.S. Army, taught school for 33 years and was formerly an active Boy Scout and Scout Master. He also was the past president of TEA Montgomery County Chapter and a member of Civil Air Control.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Norfleet; son, Herman Edwin (Julie) Norfleet, III; grandchildren, Gabe Vigil, Grace Norfleet, and Lucy Kaye Norfleet; cousin, Glenn Norfleet.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Darnell, Jr., Ronald Harrison, Claudie Stamper, Donnie Gill, Steve Harrison, and Kevin Estes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America at 3414 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215 and/or the Alzheimer’s Association Middle Tennessee Chapter at 4825 Trousdale Drive Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220.
