MSG (Ret.) Herman E. Cassity, 82, Woodlawn, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at McReynolds-Nave-Larson Chapel with Bro. Charles (Chuck) Cato officiating. Burial will be in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Herman was born December 10, 1927 in Bush City, Kansas, son of the late Wilmer and and Esther Burlington Cassity. He was also preceded by his wife of 43 years, Faye Conatser Cassity, and sisters Jeanne Lankard and Nina Ruth Cassity. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army where he belonged to the 101st Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service he retired once again from Civil Service Family Housing. Herman was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, selling fireworks, and cooking. He is survived by his son Mike Cassity of Huntington, WV; daughter Donna Cassity Butts of Clarksville; grandchildren Brandi Bradberry, Hunter Cassity, Brooke Cassity, Skyler Cassity, and Brayden Cassity; great-grandson Tucker Bradberry; brother Robert Cassity; and sisters Vera Storer, Helen Miller, and Marjorie (Tootie) Akers.
