Herman Byard

Herman Edward Byard, age 94, of Cumberland Furnace passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Covina, California.

Herman entered this life on February 3, 1929,  in Clarksville, TN to the late Matthew and Ida Brumley Byard. While in Tennessee, Herman enjoyed farming. He moved to California, where he became a specialty welder and a big machine operator.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Oneida Byard; son, Eugene Byard, and his siblings, RB, Ray, George, Polly, Dorothy, and Jean.

Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Schaetzel, and her husband, Stephen; Lucille Newcomb; daughter in law, Sue Byard; grandchildren, Shane (Penny) Schaetzel, Jennifer (Steve) Crowley, Rachel (Josh) Steele, Jim (Chastity) Byard, and Alan (Jaime) Byard, Jonathan Smith, Greg Smith, James Browning, Stephen Browning, and Lisa Smith; great-grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Zac, Clayton, Jaden, Josie, Jaxon, Castle, Braddock, Jace, Logan, and Hunter, and brother, Wayne (Teresa) Byard.
