Hazel Ann Burgess, age 88 of Erin, TN, passed away October 17, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday morning.
Hazel entered this life on April 10, 1935 in Houston County, TN, daughter to the late Clyde O. Brooks and Ida Garton. Hazel retired as Dietary Manager at Royal Care of Erin after many years of service. She loved to sing gospel songs, decorate, and visit with her friends and family. Hazel attended Peach Grove Church and Patterson’s Chapel Church; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, James Willard Burgess; siblings, Callie Parker, Irene Lewis, Lillie Newcomb, Betty Unger, Elmer Brocks, Bert Brooks, and Buford Brooks.
Survivors include her loving children, Carlatta (Benny) Torres, Ray (Joanne) Warfield, Charles (Darlene) Vaughn; step-children, Rhonda (Jack) Wilkes, and Bobby Burgess (special friend Karen Simmons). She and James also leave behind, all together, seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild, along with many precious friends and family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Torres, Bobby Steinmetz, Cole Haddock, Austin Clements, Rusty Kee, and Derrick Vaughn.
