Hatton Emmett Black, age 83 of Southside, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. James Black officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Hatton was born on February 13, 1931, the son of the late William Black and Myrtle Armstrong Black. He was a carpenter and a Baptist who belonged to the Carpenters local 174 Union.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Morgan Black; his sons, Ronald Black and Richard Black; brothers and sisters, William, Thomas, Dillard, Polly, Oralee, Elizabeth, Maudell, Willie May, Jean, Charles, Donnie, and Ray;
He is survived by his grandson, Richard (Christine) Black; great-grandsons, Dusti, Alex, and Mason; several nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Harris, Danny Harris, William Wright, Bob Thrasher, Richard Black, John Roberts, and Roger Dale Sutton.
