Harry McLeod

April 5, 1921 — February 18, 2008

Dr. Harry Lynwood McLeod, 86, Clarksville, died Monday, February 18, 2008, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Forney officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dr. McLeod was born April 5, 1921, in Leakesville, Mississippi, the son of Benjamin Watt and Getrude Jenner McLeod. He spent two years in the Army Engineers during WWII. He attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Alabama. For twenty years he was Professor of Chemistry at Austin Peay State University. For seventeen of those years he was chairman of the Chemistry Department. After retiring in 1982, he founded McLeod's Inc. where he blended Janitorial Cleaning Products. Dr. McLeod was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a fifty year member of The American Chemical Society and Alpha Chi Sigma, Sigma XI and Clan MacLeod Society U.S.A. Surviors include his wife, Ruby Jean Cook McLeod; daughter, Linda (John) Knox, Salem Oregon; son Larry (Cathy) McLeod, Clarksville; brother, Ben W. McLeod, Pensacola, FL; and sister, Jamie Waltz Freed, Indianapolis, IN; Seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
