Harlan Travis, age 90 of Tennessee Ridge, TN, passed away Saturday, Jan 2, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Brother Dennis Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at the McIntosh Cemetery .
The Travis family will receive friends on Monday, January 4th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, January 5th from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday morning.
Harlan entered this life on April 27, 1930 in Tennessee Ridge, TN. He is the son of the late Dennie and Lillian Soderberg Travis. Harlan worked and retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Nashville, TN.
Awhile after retiring Harlan and his wife moved from Nashville to his beloved hometown of Tennessee Ridge where he did farming. Harlan had a love for family, friends, his farm and farming, raising horses, and dancing along with many other interests. He enjoyed sitting in his swing and waving to passersby. He liked collecting antiques and ran an antique store for some time.
Harlan leaves a legacy of hard work, passion, grit, discipline and love of family.
He worked hard to make sure there was a place the family could come together for annual family reunions, holiday get-togethers and community get-togethers. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Harlan was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Gerry) Travis; daughter, Brenda Travis; brothers, Raymond Travis, Shelby Travis, Virgil Travis, Kenneth Travis, Buddy Travis, Lloyd Travis, Ralph Travis and sisters, Florence Gibson, Vivian Daniel and grandson, Joshua Sullivan.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Ogle, Lorrie Travis, and Deborah (Gary) Owen. Harlan also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Gary Wayne Owen, Scott (America) Owen, Jill (Phillip) Caldwell, Jared (Amber) Sullivan, Alison Epps, Caleb Ogle, Sarah (Garrett) Parker, Jacob Ogle, Grace (Chase) Lewis, Jennifer (Doug) Oddon, Katie Richardson, and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Sullivan, Caleb Ogle, Jacob Ogle, Hunter Caldwell, Micah Richardson, and Hayden Caldwell.
